In Neuhaus in Carinthia, representatives of the Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy (GODC) took part in yesterday’s event “Shaping Europe together regionally”, in which the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation – EGTC Geopark Karavanke/Karawanken was founded. The Geopark Karawanken, which connects municipalities and institutions from the border regions of Slovenia and Austria and previously acted as a working group, has thus been given a new status.
The initiative to found a new grouping, which is already the 75th grouping of this type in Europe, came about as part of the EUfutuR project. It is one of the projects of the Cooperation Programme Interreg Slovenia-Austria 2014-2020, which was supported by the European Regional Development Fund.
Mojca Muršec, head of the joint secretariat of the Cooperation Programme Interreg Slovenia-Austria 2014-2020, which works inside the GODC, emphasized in her speech: “I hope that this important step will help all of you who are striving for a breakthrough in the cross-border area to implement new activities, creative ideas and interesting offers that will attract many visitors to the Geopark and open up the potential for further economical and touristic development. “
