Within the frame of the cross-border Cooperation Programme Interreg V-A Slovenia-Austria, 49 projects have been approved so far, with a total contractual value of EUR 46.1 million from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The programme co-finances activities on three priority axes. Under Priority Axis 1, “Strengthening cross-border competitiveness, research and innovation“, 21 projects have been approved so far, with a total value of approx. 15.9 million EUR ERDF funds. 14 projects, with a total value of approx. 17.6 million ERDF funding were approved under Priority Axis 2, “Protecting the Environment and Promoting Resource Efficiency“. In the area of “Enhancing Institutional Capacity and an Efficient Public Administration” (Priority Axis 3), 14 projects were approved for a total value of ca. 12.6 million EUR ERDF.
In the frame of the 5th deadline, a little less than 1.5 million EUR ERDF and, in addition to that, funds from project left overs were available. So far, all available programme funds have been contracted.
Despite the fact that the programme successfully pursues the established performance framework and reaches most of the defined indicators, we discovered that at the programme level we have not yet reached the programme indicator relating to projects that involve research institutions in the field of management and beneficial use of water resources (priority axis 2, investment priority 6f).
We invite all interested institutions and potential partnerships to communicate their interest for the preparation of projects that would substantially contribute to the achievement of the relevant programme indicator, to the competent national/regional authority and/or the joint secretariat of the programme.
