The European Commission issued the RegioStars 2013 competition – the sixth annual awards – for the most innovative regional development projects co-funded by the EU’s Structural Funds, which will be awarded in June 2013 in Brussels. As in the previous year, five prize categories have been defined: * smart growth – connecting universities to regional growth; * durable growth – supporting resource efficiency in small companies; * inclusive growth – creative/innovate responses to social challenges; * CityStar – sustainable urban development and communication; * information and communication – promotion of the EU’s regional policy via short video clips. For the 2013 awards, the selected finalists will, for the first time, have the opportunity to showcase their projects before an independent jury during the October 2012 Open Days.
